Sunday chit-chat

Lately I've just been feeling really exhausted, maybe it's because Christmas is coming and the new year. I'll just be happy when it finally becomes 2014! I always feel motivated in January and ready to take on just about anything. Ok, so we still have christmas to get out of the way before the new year arrives, but i'm excited about that too. I've always loved christmas but for some reason this year i'm double excited. I just can't wait to chill out with my family and not have to worry about a thing, and just eat silly amounts of food. This is my first Christmas in my home, as we moved here in January, It felt so weird when we was putting up our tree and decorations because they were all in such different places to what they were back in my old house! haha.

Every year me and my mum spend Christmas at my nan and grandads(my mums mum and dad) house. We'll stay at home on Christmas eve, wake up at our house open our presents there and then we go to their house. This year its all abit different though, we're still going to my nans house, but my dads mum is going to be joining us too. My mum and dad are not together anymore, but I think it's so nice that my mums mum and dad still get on with my dads mum. wow that was a abit confusing lol.

To help that make sense, basically my dads mum and dad moved to Spain a couple of years ago but then a few things happened (would rather keep this private) and it caused them to get a divorce. So my grandad moved back to England but my nan decided she still wanted to live in Spain, so she stayed. So my grandad will spend Christmas with my dad and uncle etc so my nan's gonna spend it with me, my mum and our side of the family.

If i'm honest i'm just so excited to see everyone open their presents that i've got them. I went a bit crazy this year, but it will all be worth it. I love spoiling people and i find christmas shopping so fun! I managed to get all mine done in November so i'm one the few that is not running around like a headless chicken trying to buy last minute presents haha! I should have saved my presents to show you all to give you a few idea's but they're all wrapped under the tree now. sorry dolls!

Hope you all enjoy your sunday!

Party heels!

So with Christmas and new years eve coming up, I can probably guess that alot of you are going to be putting your glad rags on and partying all night. Well I know I will be! So I thought I'd share with you a few party shoes that I've seen and love that are all a reasonable price. All High street prices you'll be glad to hear.

Blue iridescent toe cap pointed court shoes £50 River Island

Metallic trend, Tick. Pointed toe, Tick. Under £60, Tick. What's not to like about these! They feature a gorgeous panel design and have a heel of 10.5cm. These are definatley a statement maker pair of shoes, meaning you won't need to pay much more attention to details in your outfit such as jewellery. Would look great with a little black dress or even a white two-piece suit.

Black jewel embellished  court shoes £85 River Island

How could I not include these! They defiantly live up to the name of party heels. These are perfect to pair with a simple outfit to jazz it up abit. They are bang on trend for autumn, they are slighting higher than the previous shoes shown as these have a heel of 11cm. They are also the most expensive pair i'm featuring in this post, but they are defiantly worth every penny!

Black and Gold disco diva high heels was £70 now £45 Schuh

Can you believe that these are on sale! reduced from £70 to £45!! there are defiantly no excuses to not buy these! unlike the previous shown these are open toe and have a slight platform and are obviously higher, these have a heel of 14cm so if your short these would be perfect or if you love a sky high shoe then these are made for you!

Adriana Gem barely there heels £27 Simmi shoes

A party heel blog post would be a party heel blog post without a red pair and these are a steal for just £27. These do come in black and nude aswell but my favourite were definatly the red ones. At £27 you'll be able to get a pedi done too! Team these with either a black outfit or white with gold accessories and red lippy!

Pink mirror heels £48 Topshop

If you read my 50 facts about me blog post, you will have learnt that pink is my favourite colour. Hence why these are my favourites! I love these so much. They are definatly top of my wish list! I'd pair these with a white skort and white cami top, finished off with a lovely spray tan!

Hope this helped with your fab party outfits!

Fashion Trends - Burgundy Accessories.

Starting from now I will starting a new series of blog posts. They're going to be called Fashion trends, would you believe that lol, and what a surprise. They're going to be all about different fashion trends that are big at the moment.

I'm going to pick a number of pieces that are easy to wear and incorporate into any outfit. So first up is Burgundy Accessories.

Burgundy is a really easy colour to wear because it can be paired with a number of different colours, from camel, to grendyy and even black.

Burgundy Accessories were seen all over the catwalks this autumn/winter.

So firstly, Lanvin were seen sporting it. They chose a very deep burgundy colour which I would only really recommend to people with a darker skin tone and dark hair as anyone pale or blonde for example It would look to harsh.
If this deep burgundy colour is abit of you, then i'd suggest taking inspiration from the show and wearing this deep colour head to toe, in style of a tailored dark red dress paired with a clutch bag and brogue shoes.

Woven suede cage boots £695 by Jimmy choo

So these gorgeous shoes have a much lighter shade than shown in the Lanvin show. So these bad boys are not cheap! but Christmas is coming up! and hey ho everyone deserves to treat themselves now and then. These shoes are a real statement piece, Anyone can pull off statement shoes, no matter what age you are. You don't have to be brave or ambitious with your style. These shoes are definitely guaranteed to make an impact. I'd suggest wearing these with an all black outfit such as a black leather skirt and black cashmere jumper, for a very Kim Kardashian look!

Dark red brogue Chelsea boots £35 River Island
For those of you that don't want to spend quite as much, then opt for these dark red brogue Chelsea boots. These are a much more fail-safe option, and much more practical for this colder weather we're having. These would look great with dark grey distressed jeans and a leather jacket.

Leopard print leather belt £19.99 Mango

Next up is this belt,  which combines both the burgundy colour and leopard print. This perfect paired with boyfriend jeans and a shirt tucked in. Finished off with a nice pair of ankle boots. This would also look amazing teamed with a plain black dress and courts for work.

Burgundy fedora hat £25 Miss Selfridge

Fedora hats are my all time favourite winter accessory. They are just so elegant and prevent bad hair days that occur during winter! This is a gorgeous take on the plain black fedora.I'd  team this with either plain black leggings, or leather look leggings. A black shirt and a black cape coat and to finish it off a pair of knee high boots.

Melodie toe cap court shoes £149 Reiss

A simple court shoe is both a classic and quick way of taking casual day look into evening wear. These would look great with a simple pair of skinny jeans and a plain white tee.

Leopard print silk chiffon scarf £325 Alexander McQueen.

I had to throw in an Alexander McQueen scarf just because they're a true staple and this one is gorgeous. They may not be cheap but they are definitely worth every penny. Its a really modern alternative to the classic style. I'd let mine hand around my neck and pair it with a black sporty sweatshirt and leather leggings or a pair of dark wash jeans and a grey jumper.

Chester Tassel loafer £165, Russell and Bromley

I've been lusting after a pair of Russell and Bromley loafers for a while now and these pair are to die for. You can wear these with just about anything so defiantly worth investing on!

I thought I'd better add some jewellery quick! These necklace is absolutely gorgeous and for £20 is a bargain! This can be used to add some sparkle to any outfit. I'd pair this with a simple pair of jeans, a white shirt and those Russell and Bromley loafers shown previously!

Burgundy leather cuff £45 Jaeger
Another piece of jewellery is this lovely wide burgundy cuff from Jaeger. It's a perfect statement piece that is very fuss free. This would look great with a three quarter length sleeve top.

Make up Equipment

Being well organized is essential.
Whether your somebody who's make up kits consists of nothing more than a lipstick and powder or if your a working make up artist who on most occasions carries around a complete collection of cosmetics.

So with that I thought in today's post i'd talk to you about what I keep in my different make up kits.

So firstly I have my home make up. This is just simply make up that I always keep at home, you should organize your home make up either in your bathroom drawer; on top of the counter, or in a box. I keep mine in my dressing table drawer and on top of my dressing table. I keep my basics and items i use rarely separately. At least twice a year i make sure all my colours and formula's are working.

So my basic home kit inclues;
- Concealers and correctors (all of which I have different shades for different times of the year)
- A foundation and a tinted moisturiser
-Powder (In 2 colours)
- Eyeshadows (Three to four basic colours)
- Eyeliner (powder and gel)
- Mascara
- Blush (powder and cream)
- Lipsticks
- Gloss
and lastly Lip pencils.

So now moving on to my everyday bag, this is all the things that I will carry around with me on a day to day basis.
.
- One or two palettes that contain my foundation, concealer, blush and lip colour
- A compact of pressed powder with a mirror
- A basic eye palette ( The smaller the better )
- Mini Mascara
- Lip Gloss
- Mini Brushes
and lastly a sample size of face cream.

Then I have my Evening bag make up, Because when I go out in the evening I tend to take a smaller bag or a clutch, it means that I have to really minimize what make up I take out as they do not allow you to tote around loads of products. So you need to selective.
I usually pack;
- Lipstick or a gloss
- Lip pencil
- A powder compact
- Customizable face palette (containing concealer, Foundation and blush)
- Mini Perfume
and Lastly some breath mints.

Gym Bag
After you've done your work out you'll want to clean your face and start your make up from scratch. So here are the following items i'd take
- Face wipes
- Moisturizer
and a customized face palette or at least a tinted moisturizer, lip colour or gloss and mascara.

For travel.
I always keep a kit packed with my travel pieces so I don't have to worry about arriving somewhere and then realizing i've forgotten something. I'd advise investing in several small plastic bottles, Label them and fill them with your essentials. Purchase mini brushes, mascara and a small eye palette.
My travel kit includes:
- Travel-Size shampoo and conditioner
- Body and facial moisturizers
- Make up palettes with all my basics
- Mini Mascara
- Face powder and bronzer
- Self tanner
- Lipstick or Gloss
- A brush roll of travel size brushes
- Tweezers
- Hairbrush and hairspray
- Perfume in a mini or compact version
and lastly perfumed body creams.

I thought I'd include a list of what i'd keep in a work desk drawer but as I do not have a desk at work lol It's only what i'd advise.
So I think that it would be worth investing in duplicates of your make up to keep in your office just so you can freshen up before a big meeting or if your going out straight after work.
I'd include,
- Concealer
- Foundation
- Pressed powder (With a mirror)
- Blush
- Lip balm, lip colour and/or gloss
- Black eyeliner and white or silver eye shadow to create an evening eye
- Mini brushes
and lastly a travel toothbrush and toothpaste set.

I hope this has helped give you an idea of how to organize your make up.

See you all soon in my next blog post! :)

I heart summer tag

This is my first ever tag and although I wasn't tagged by anyone I thought i'd do it anyway as I needed an idea for a new post.
So i'm just gonna get straight to it.

1. Favorite bronzer for summer?
This has definitely got to be soleil tan de chanel. This bronzer has last me over a year. I love this bronzer because its so natural looking and because it's a cream and not a powder it gives a more dewy finish instead of a matte look. which i prefer especially in summer as it makes you look alot healthier, well that's my opinion anyway.

2.You're relaxing on a hammock, on a tropical island. What are you sipping on?
(favorite drink)
I absolutely love mojito's so it would probably have to be that or a Malibu and coke. They're my two favorite alcoholic drinks, But if i was ordering a soft drink i'd probably have to chose a costa tropical fruit cooler they are just so yummy!!

3. Favorite lip product.
Probably just a plain old boring lip balm, something like carmex. I don't really like to wear lipstick and lip glosses in summer. i normally stick to lip balms.

4.Pool or beach?
Defiantly the pool, I cannot stand the beach, the sand does my head in!! especially when you go in the sea and then have to walk along the sand and it sticks to your feet. it's a blooming nightmare to get off.

5.Summer = Crazy hair!  what's your must have styling product?
To be honest, my hair doesn't really become 'crazy' in summer. It's probably no different to what it is in winter, but i guess it does to tend to become alot drier so something like aussie's 3 minute miracle which is a deep conditioning treatment.. oh and hairspray!!

6.Sunbathing or fake tan?
Fake tan without a doubt, although I do tan it takes a while, and i hate waiting lol so i'd rather just fake it and look nice and brown.

7. Favorite summer nail varnish?
I love love love bright pink nail varnishes in summer because they look so good against a tan. This year my go-to pink nail varnish has been models own neon nail polish in bubblegum. It's so pretty.

8.Any summer traditions?
I don't really have any. I guess we have bbq's alot? is that a summer tradition lol oh and every year I go to V festival so i guess that's a tradition haha!

9. Favorite summer scent?
Probably Flora by Gucci perfume, the name kind of gives it away it's a really nice floral scent.

10. Favorite BBQ food?
Defiantly sausages in a bun with onions yum yum. oh and not forgetting the brown sauce!

11. What's your favorite summer proof product?
I don't have any summer proof products haha whoops maybe i should invest.

12.Any Summer Vacations this year? No plans? Tell us about your dream summer trip?
I've already been on holiday i went about 3/4 weeks ago. I went to Spain with my friend as my nan lives out there. We went for 2 weeks and it was amazing, lovely and hot too! I'm sad to be home but at least the weathers nice in England too!! haha

I tag anyone who wants to do this!

Comment so I can check out yours!

How to get beautifully shiny hair..

So many woman struggle to get their hair looking shiny and full of life. Thankfully I'm not one of them, See my mum was a hairdresser so from a young age she would teach me to wash my hair the way they do in hair salons, at the time I used to hate it, it just made baths so long. (not that I was an unhygienic child who didn't want to wash! haha i'd have just much preferred to have sat there and play with the bubbles) Anyway, so alot of people ask me how I get my hair looking so shiny so I thought I would share with you what I do and some tips.

Ok So first things first, how many times a week do you wash your hair? Once? Twice? Well make it three times. I wash my hair three times a week. So obviously I start by wetting my hair and then i'll put about a 50p size amount of shampoo. (The one I'm using at the moment is Bumble and Bumble Let It shine Shampoo) I normally start at my crown and then start to massage it into my scalp, The massaging is really important and this is what removes any product residue and stimulates your blood flow to your hair follicles, which actually improves hair growth. After this I then rinse my hair, Because i have quite thick hair I actually add another lot of shampoo to my hair and massage again. I'd advise doing so if you have thick, long or product overloaded hair.
Lastly I apply my conditioner i'm the using Bumble and Bumble let it shine conditioner), this is where so many people go wrong with 'shiny hair' and end up greasy, weighed down locks!! You only need to use about a tablespoon amount of conditioner and AVOID YOUR ROOT!!! I cannot stress this enough, your roots do not need conditioner, its only your mid-lengths and ends that do. Conditioner at your roots only makes your hair greasy. I leave my conditioner on for about three minutes and then I rinse, and I finish it off with a final cold rinse which seals your hair cuticles.

Now moving on to how I blow-dry my hair. So as soon as i get out the bath and my hair is still wet, using my tangle teezer i'll brush my hair starting from my ends and start to towel dry it. Then I'll apply a cherry sized amount of treatment oil (preferably something argan-based) which will improve your hair's elasticity and will act as an anti-frizz barrier. Next I'll apply a heat protector which you should always do when your using heat anyway. I'll spray this from my roots to the tip of my hair. Then i'll just start to dry my hair, once its started to dry abit i'll then clip up two thirds of my hair, leaving the bottom layer of my hair down. Then using a bristle brush i'll take about two-inch sections of my hair and continue to dry the rest of my hair. Heat seals the cuticles, therefore it means that they reflect more light so this is a really crucial step in making sure your hair is shiny!

Sometimes i'll go over sections of my hair with my straighteners just from the mid-length to the tips, just to add extra gloss, But this step isn't very crucial and I don't do this all the time.
For finishing touches i'll add from gloss to my hair, just working this through the ends to smooth down any flyaway hairs and lastly i'll spritz my hair with shine spray, again avoiding my roots!!

Just as an extra, Once a week i'll use a deep conditioning mask to shampooed and towel dried hair, I'll leave this on for about 10-minutes before rinsing and finishing off with a cold rinse. This just improves your hairs condition and density aswell as adding shine.

If you have curly hair. -
I'd recommend adding a tamer into your routine, such as John Frieda Full Repair Touch-up Flyaway Tamer and using kerastase oleo-curl intense masque as this helps detangle curls and lastly I'd advise using Aveda Be curly Curl controller as your hair gloss.

If you have fine hair, I'd recommend, Swapping the hair oil for wella professionals luxe oil light, as you do not want heavy oils to weigh your hair down, And I would add supplements into your routine, such as phillip kingsley Pk4 hair soya protein capsules which contain essential amino acids for your hair follicles.

If you have oily hair I'd recommend shu uemura art of hair cleansing oil shampoo as this tackles product build up and i'd also suggest liz earle botanical shine conditioner for oily hair.

Lastly, If you have dry hair I'd recommend Tigi Hair reborn resurfacing lusterizer as your hair gloss which fights humidity. As well as joico K-pak revitaluxe treatment as your weekly hair mask as it helps repair damaged, dry or coloured hair.

Help! I have sensitive skin

Many people come to the conclusion they have sensitive skin due to products they are using which causes stinging, burning, redness or tightness, However dermatologists look for skin reactions so things like skin bumps, and very dry skin which doesn't properly protect nerve endings in the skin as well as a tendency towards blushing and skin flushing.

So, How do you know if you have sensitive skin?
Well firstly have a dermatologist  check your skin. This is the best way to find out  whether you have sensitive skin or whether something else is causing your skin condition.

What should i look out for if i have sensitive skin?
Fragrance is the top cause of adverse skin reactions to beauty products.
If you are using anti-ageing products be careful of the retinol and alphahydroxy-acids  which are used.
Essential oils are believed to be calming but believe it or not, someone skins can't handle them.
Then there is alcohol, Many toners contain alcohol which strips your natural oils making your skin very dry and irritable.
There's also Sodium Lauryl sulphate which is used in many foaming products which can be drying and lastly there's over exfoliation, avoid gritty face scrubs and try not to exfoliate more than twice a week.

There are many products out on the market which aim to help sensitive skin. Here's a few that i think are worth checking out..

1. Clinique a different nail enamel for sensitive skins £12.

Although these are not 'new' and there are many other sensitive skin nail varnishes out there, The colours of these are amazing. At the moment there are only 12 shades, but there will also be a further 9 limited edition summer shades in 2013. They should be released in may.

2. St Tropez self tan sensitive bronzing lotion for face £22.

Now everyone can get that st tropez glow thanks to their new hypoallergenic range.

3. Sampar velvet cleansing milk £16

This is now available at feelunique.com or in marks and spencers beauty department in may.

4. Trilogy sensitive very gentle calming serum £28.50
This is a bestseller and has all the benefits people will sensitive skin love.

5. Lastly, La roche-posay nutritic intense riche £16

This is great for anyone with a very dry complexion.

Let me know what products you love if you have sensitive skin!
